When moving beyond training on generic laboratory apparatus, it’s important to introduce users to innovative devices they may not have encountered before.

One such example is the GatheRex cell culture platform, which uses gas-permeable membrane technology to create a more physiologic environment for large-scale cell growth. The system requires minimal hands-on interaction, operates at a lower cost, and is widely employed across both research and industry settings — making training on it highly valuable. The platform exposes users to a range of new techniques, including: Welding lines, sterile sampling, seeding and harvesting with a pump system.

Industry Preparation

Together, these virtual GatheRex training materials provide an excellent stepping stone for those preparing to work at scale or transition into bioreactor operations. By engaging with the GatheRex system, learners gain both confidence and a deeper understanding of how laboratory techniques evolve when moving from research toward therapeutic manufacturing. This is where Virtual Reality training adds real value: it allows users to practice unfamiliar processes in a safe, controlled environment, free from the risks of error, equipment damage or costly material waste. By the time they step into a real lab, they are more confident, competent, and ready to apply these skills effectively.
